NFL Roundup: Broncos Narrowly Beat Struggling Jets in Defensive Battle
In a low-scoring contest on Sunday, the Denver Broncos managed to secure a close win over the struggling New York Jets. Quarterback Bo Nix threw an early scoring strike and specialist Wil Lutz kicked the game-winning decisive three-pointer to seal the hard-fought win.
Defensive Performance Seals Contest
Even with registering nine sacks versus Jets QB Justin Fields, the Broncos found themselves trailing 11-10 after conceding a safety in the third quarter. Remarkably, the Jets managed a mere 82 total net yards throughout the entire game.
Nix, who went 19 of 30 attempts for 174 yards, led a critical 12-play, 65-yard possession that ended with Lutz's short field goal with just over five minutes left.
Record Struggles for Jets Offense
Despite their dismal offensive display, the Jets still had possession with a chance to score a possible victory. However Fields was tackled on fourth-and-eight from the Denver 44 when head coach Aaron Glenn chose to attempt the conversion rather than calling on kicker Nick Folk for a difficult kick.
The Jets quarterback struggled throughout, completing just 9 of 17 passes for 45 yards. New York ended up with minus-10 net yards passing, the fewest in any game since 1998.
"Our passing game was non-existent," the coach stated after the game.
